Kelly Sinclair:

I was better at talking about what I do. And that is essential when you can talk about what you do when you can like, show that you know your stuff that's really important in building your brand. Because building your brand is your reputation is the know, like and trust factor. And we've heard that millions of times that in order for somebody to buy from you or want to work with you, they need to know like and trust you. And those things are built through the way that you show up the way that you talk about what you do, the way that you showcase your genius in your area of expertise. All of those pieces come together. And content is one area where you can really showcase that and really practice and refine that process.

Kelly Sinclair:

This is The Entrepreneur School Podcast where we believe you can run a thriving business and still make your family a priority. This show is all about supporting you the emerging or early stage Entrepreneur on your journey from solopreneur to CEO while wearing all of the other hats in your life. My name is Kelly Sinclair and I'm a brand and marketing strategist who started a business with two kids under 3am, a corporate PR girl turned entrepreneur after I learned the hard way that life is too short to waste doing things that burn you out. On this show, you'll hear inspiring stories from other business owners on their journey, and learn strategies to help you grow a profitable business, while making it all fit into the life that you want. Welcome to Entrepreneur School.

Kelly Sinclair:

Welcome back to this special series of How to Get Clients with Confidence. So we are now in part two. And if you haven't yet listened to the previous episode, go ahead and go back to episode number 24. All about getting clarity to help you get more clients. And today we're going to dive into the second piece of this framework, which is all about the confidence. And that is a juicy topic to dive into. If I was in the room with you right now, I'd probably say Hands up if you've ever felt frozen or stalled, because you didn't feel confident enough to take action. I see you raising your hand in your car right now, because we have all been there. And it's something to constantly work on, especially as a business owner. Now confidence is a huge area of study. There's tons of books and podcasts and resources out there, you can go down some pretty deep Alice in the Wonderland style rabbit holes here. And I'm not going to attempt to like bring all of the research together on that. But what I want to do in this episode is just focus on confidence as it relates to your brand. Because when you feel confident about your brand, you will take action. And that is what creates magnetic attraction that results in you getting amazing clients who are excited to work with you. So if you are here for that, then stay tuned in, get your notebook ready. And be ready to stay open minded to this because I'm going to share with you three important perspective shifts about confidence that are going to get you excited to put yourself out there out of your comfort zone. So let's dive in. The first thing I want to share is a definition of confidence that when I heard this, my mind was opened in a whole new way. And I am this is attributed to Brendon Burchard. He is a motivational speaker. And he's studied high performance and written tons of books on these topics. And when he defines confidence, he says, confidence is your belief in your ability to figure things out. And when I heard that, I was like, oh, it's not about what I know. It's not about how smart I am. It's not even about how smart I think I am or how good I think I am at what I do. It is simply that I believe that I can figure it out, which is so freeing to me to think about it that way is that as I start down this path, and this is for you, entrepreneurship, we don't necessarily know what's going to come at us, right? It's a journey. We've been talking about this on the podcast from day one, that you're going to experience challenges and ups and downs and the roller coaster ride on a daily basis. And when you lean in to this definition of confidence is your belief in your ability to figure things out All of a sudden, it's a little easier to be confident. Because all you have to do is believe that you're going to figure out and problem solve when the problem comes. So, in thinking about when you're working with your clients and being confident about, sometimes I feel like the area of lack of confidence is around getting results for your clients, right? So if you're worried about being able to promise a certain result of your fitness training, or like, how do I actually like talk about a result, like losing 10 pounds, or having more energy, or whatever you actually like, position yourself as are, you're a coach, and you're helping them to transform a certain area of their life, these are big things that you're helping them to do. If you believe that you're just going to show up and do your best and help them and serve them in whatever way it shows that they need it. And that's all it takes. So when you believe in your ability to figure things out, you're going to be way more confident in how you can actually show up and serve your clients as well. So when this comes to, like applying confidence to like your marketing and showing up, I'm going to talk about that a little bit more in in my third point. So I'll just put a pin in that for a second.

Kelly Sinclair:

So the second shift that I want to share with you about confidence is all about impostor syndrome. So this is a phrase, a common phrase in entrepreneurship is that I have impostor syndrome, I feel like I don't have what it takes to do the thing that I do to or to be a marketer, right? I don't know if I'm good enough at being a fitness trainer or being a coach or being whatever it is that you are. And I don't know, if I'm good enough to be a marketer, when that's not my background. Well, one time I read in a book, and I can't remember where so sorry for not having a source, but just know that this is not an original thought. impostor syndrome is a requirement. If you don't feel like an imposter, you're not trying something new. And if you're not doing something new, you're not growing. So if you're here for the journey of growth and development, you're always going to have impostor syndrome. So let's welcome it, and actually think it, because that means that we're doing something that's worth working towards. And that's an amazing thing. So impostor syndrome will always be present. But instead of looking at that as something negative, let's embrace it. Let's embrace the imposter syndrome. Let's, let's be imposters together. Like I started this podcast, not knowing how to do podcasts. And here I am. And here you are listening. So thank you. Thank you for allowing me to feel like an imposter as a podcaster. And to come into your earbuds, and alongside you on your walk to school or on your drive to your kids, many, many activities that you're taking them to. And thank you. How can you embrace impostor syndrome, and thank it for being there. That's my challenge to you.

So I will see you back here next week. I can't wait. And we also want to remind you that if this is landing for you, if you're like Ah, yes, I need that clarity. Yes, I need that confidence.
